Tumenye Sinema, Learn About Cinema, is a countrywide capacity-building program foryoung Rwandan professionals in the film sector in Musanze, Huye, Muhanga & Rubavu Districts. It is supported by the European Union and implemented jointly by Mashariki African Film Festival and Goethe Institute.

The project creates a platform for collective youth action with a strong focus to bring unemployed
youth into jobs and to create a wide international network of young professionals in the film sector with the aim to reach 400 unemployed youth in need of creative, and practical business skills with an interest in joining the film industry, and will increase civic demand for film and domestic content creation. It runs until 2024.

Objectives:

  • Empowering young filmmakers with sector techniques and skills
  • Creating a platform for collective action focusing on domestic content creation
  • Promote self-employment while encouraging self-expression through own story-telling
  • Reach 400 hundred unemployed youth with with an interest of joining the film industry
