In 2013, eighteen-year-old Ivie arrives in Canada with her mother and younger brothers after fleeing Nigeria to seek asylum. Housed in a rundown motel on the outskirts of Ottawa, the family struggles to adapt to an unfamiliar country while navigating a refugee system they barely understand. As financial pressures mount and their immigration case becomes increasingly uncertain, Ivie is forced to grow up quickly. Desperate to help her family secure a future, she becomes entangled with a corrupt immigration lawyer whose promises of assistance come at a devastating cost. Meanwhile, tensions within the family deepen as each member copes differently with displacement, loss, and the burden of starting over. When the family learns they have only days left to save their case, Ivie must confront impossible choices that will shape not only her future, but the future of those she loves most. Inspired by real events, All Our Eggs in One Basket is an intimate coming-of-age drama about migration, resilience, family, and the sacrifices people make in pursuit of safety and belonging.
